Meet our Athletes

Annalie has been climbing since 2019. Her favorite thing about competing is making awesome connections through strong young athletes. One fun fact about Annalie is that she is super good at drawing!!

Arthur has been climbing since 2021. His favorite thing about competing is pushing himself to go 100%.

Ava has been climbing since 2016. Her most memorable comp moment was the red climb at her first lead competition. “Up to that point, I hadn’t committed on any of the climbs that day. I remember deciding to just trust myself, and ended up topping it.” Ava is most excited to practice working on dynos this coming season. A fun fact about Ava is that she loves scary roller coasters and water slides.

Begona started climbing when she was 7 years old. Her favorite thing about competing is getting to try a lot of climbs and learn new things. A fun fact about Begona is that she’s gone multi pitch climbing in Bishop. 

Bodhi has been climbing since 2020. His favorite thing about competition climb is skate dynos :) He especially loves when you have to generate a lot and land on a bad foot and then start skating. Bodhi is also a very accomplished ski racer, mountain biker and surfer!

Cata has been climbing since 2016. She loves competing because she gets to try different styles of routes.

Carmen started climbing when she was 5 years old. Her favorite aspect of competing is getting to climb with her friends. A fun fact about Carmen is that she used to play the tuba. 

Claire has been climbing since 2019. Her favorite things about competing are challenging herself with different climbing styles and meeting lots of cool people. A fun fact about Claire is that she will 3 finger drag anything. 

Daniel has been climbing since December 1st, 2021! His favorite part about competing is learning what skills he needs to improve on. Some fun facts about him is that he has 3 dogs and is starting to become a climbing coach!

Enzo has been climbing since 2023. His favorite thing about being on the CCC team is seeing his teammates make progress and push themselves. He is excited for his first full season of comps this year. A fun fact about Enzo is that he was captain of the Berkeley High soccer team before changing focus to prioritize his climbing.

Grace has been climbing forever, aka 2017. She likes being on team because she gets to climb hard with her friends. A fun fact about Grace is that she climbs outside with her dad all the time, she even climbed half dome when she was 7!

Jade has been climbing since 2022. Her favorite thing about being on team is the comradery. Climbing is also a great outlet for her. She used to swim competitively.

Jade started climbing in 2022. Her favorite aspect about competing is making new friends and getting to try a lot of cool climbs. A fun fact about Jade is that every summer she goes to France and climbs in Paris. 

Joe has been climbing for four years. One of his most fond comp memories was in Reno as a youth D when he podiumed for the first time; we were all super excited for Joe! Now, he is psyched for hard climbs and new competitions this coming ropes season! A fun fact about Joe is that he is a huge fan of the University of Alabama football team.

Jules has been climbing since 2020. His favorite thing about competing is applying the things he learned during practice in high intensity environments. A fun fact about Jules is that his middle name is “Z”… just the letter.

MINYOUNG HAS BEEN CLIMBING SINCE SHE WAS 8 AND BEGAN COMPETING SINCE 9. HER MOST MEMORABLE COMPETITION MOMENT WAS THE 2022 ROPES DIVISIONALS, WHERE SHE TOOK THE VERY LAST SPOT TO QUALIFY FOR THE SECOND DAY. “I GATHERED MY CONFIDENCE, TAMED MY NERVES, AND TRIED MY VERY BEST.” THE NEXT DAY SHE ENDED IN 4TH PLACE, SECURING A SPOT IN HER FIRST NATIONALS COMPETITION. FOR THIS UPCOMING BOULDERING SEASON, SHE IS EXCITED TO IMPROVE HER DYNO SKILLS AND TRY ALL THE WEIRD BUT FUN COMPETITION-STYLE CLIMBS. A FUN FACT ABOUT MINYOUNG IS THAT SHE IS FLUENT IN KOREAN.

Maddy has been climbing since 2017 and competing for just about as long. In her previous era as a forever youth D, maddy was region 21’s best volunteer. Her favorite thing about competing is getting to climb with very motivated people and push herself to find out what is possible. A fun fact about Maddy is that she likes to sew, if you ask really really nicely she might make you a tote bag.

Mia started climbing at age 8. Her favorite thing about competing is the community and trying hard on new climbs. A fun fact about Mia is that she used to play the trombone. 

Niko has been climbing since 2019. He loves competing because every competition exposes a weakness, and it is really fun for him to see himself improve by working on these weaknesses. A fun fact about Niko is that he was born in Switzerland and lived there for 3 years. 

Pasha has been climbing for about 8 years. His most memorable comp moment is when he learned “I had just barely qualified for nationals”. Pasha is excited to get better at climbing and really focus on his training and do well in comps. His favorite food is a nice juicy steak.

Penelope has been climbing since 2017. She likes competing because she gets to try new and interesting things at comps. One time she spent 20 min on the wall on a climb and she still flashed it.

Rika has been climbing for around 5 years (since 2018). Her most memorable comp moment was in a 2022 Bouldering Qualification round when, “after 11 unsuccessful attempts, I started a climb seconds before the buzzer, topped it, and jumped from 6th to 3rd place”. This season, Rika is excited to make it to her first ever bouldering Nationals (hopefully!!). A fun fact about Rika is that she loves old songs, and has an 8hr playlist with 120 songs from the 70s-90s.

Sierra has been climbing outdoors since she was 3. She started climbing indoors with a team and going to competitions 2 years ago when she was 8. Her most memorable comp experience was “falling on a hard reachy move over and over at the competition in Ripon then finally grabbing the hold, and jumping from 6th place to 3rd place at the very last second!” This season Sierra is excited to get stronger so she can make more dynamic moves…..and more comps! Sierra is a night owl and will stay up all night if she can get away with it, but that makes mornings very rough. She’s good at being late in the morning.

Sofia has been climbing since 2021. Her proudest moment was making the Top Rope Divisional D2 Finals. Her favorite thing about competing with CCT is the team atmosphere and how everyone is very supportive and encouraging. One fun fact about her is she will bat hang on anything from climbing holds to bunk bed railings (not a very good idea).

Sunny has been climbing since 2021. Her favorite things about competing are trying fun dynos and problem solving with cool people. A fun fact about Sunny is that she loves slab climbing, so you’ll never see her without beat up knees.
